About Mixed Media Giclées and Digital Commission Portraits

Ironically, artists are compelled to photograph their original work digitally for social media – which may be the only aspect of their work the public ever sees. With the exception of top tier artists represented by a shrinking number of physical galleries and metropolitan art fairs, much of the original, hand produced art purchased today is based on a web site photograph.

Most recently, the nonfungible token (NFT) craze has led to massively hyped digital art sales. There is no physical art work.  Unlike many digital artists, Stephen’s mixed media process starts with physical paint on canvas. Using his traditional model-based figure and abstract work as a base, Stephen enhances digital images of the original paintings for beautiful, large format, limited edition prints or NFT’s.

The enhanced work supports very high quality Giclée production on gallery canvas, paper and other architectural substrates such as metal, plastic and glass. Its an outstanding solution when very large format artwork is required for upscale residential and commercial installations.

Contact the artist directly for new portrait commission work or existing mixed media originals.

Digitally painted commission portraits on canvas allow multiple sizing options and can be less expensive for clients than traditional hand painted work. Depending on requirements the artist can also apply oil paint directly on the Giclée, further enhancing the final work.
