About the Show
The show features samples from two bodies of Stephen’s work, the Heroine Series and the XScape Series. The more representational portion of the Heroine Series is on display, showcasing 12 local Rochester and Buffalo students, actresses, singers, engineers, artists and mothers that modeled for these large scale oil portraits – each transformed into larger than life Heroine on canvas. Complimenting his figure work, samples from the XScape series are also on display. They range from highly abstracted elements of times past: Earth, Water, Air and Fire on wood panel to more representational landscape work on canvas. Believing his figurative work and landscape work are synergistic, Stephen often works both genres at the same time. Most of Stephen’s paintings are big, high contrast, color saturated and bold – complimenting large interior spaces. In addition to originals, he offers high quality Giclée reproductions as well as commission projects, most recently supporting charitable causes.
