October 2nd, 2026, 6 – 9 PM

About Stephen Harkola

Stephen is a Rochester, NY–based figurative, landscape, and abstract painter. He works in a variety of media, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, and charcoal.

About the Heroine Series Presentation

This talk will focus on his “Heroine Series” which includes large format oil and acrylic portraits, shown at several exhibitions. Many of these studio pieces originated from models posing at Group in the Loop figure drawing sessions as well as dedicated photo shoots.

While examples of his more representational work will be on display, the presentation will also chronicle Stephen’s figure work abstraction “experiments”, highlighting the use of photography and software to develop unique compositions.  The talk will provide insights and inspiration for anyone engaged in creating art focused on the human form.
